History of Emeco Aluminum Chair Company
Since 1944, when Wilton Dinges envisioned manufacturing sculpted masterworks, Emeco has been focused on a single goal combining the best materials with the highest skilled craftsman. Quality isn't an accident. It's all about process and people.
The high quality of the Emeco chair is the culmination of seventy-seven individual operations performed by Emeco's skilled craftsman. Some have been perfecting their craft over forty years.
Emeco uses a manufacturing process resulting from a collaboration with Alcoa to develop a seaworthy chair for military use. Emeco is the only company in the world using this exclusive trademarked process to produce chairs. The specially treated aluminum alloy material is rust-free, light weight, and tough enough, legend has it, to survive a torpedo blast. A 77-step process transforms the Emeco chair from a rough frame to sculptured masterwork. Life expectancy is 150 years.
